Your wedding cake is one of the few details guests remember long after the last dance — so it's worth getting right. At Ribsys Cakes, every wedding cake is handcrafted from scratch in our Indooroopilly studio: real ingredients, no shortcuts, and a design that's genuinely yours.
This guide walks through everything you need to know about booking a wedding cake in Brisbane in 2026 — when to book, how many serves you'll need, the styles trending right now, flavours, delivery and cost — so you can tick “cake” off the list with confidence.
When to book your wedding cake
Good wedding cakes take time, and the best dates go first. We recommend scheduling a consultation at least six months before your wedding day — earlier still if you're marrying on a spring or summer Saturday, when Brisbane's wedding season is in full swing.
Your consultation is where the cake starts to take shape. We'll talk through your venue, guest count, theme and any inspiration photos you've saved, then design a cake that fits your day. Cake tastings are held by appointment: you can sample up to four flavours and talk design with our team, and tastings are complimentary for wedding cakes with a deposit.
How many serves do you need?
Sizing comes down to your guest count and how the cake will be served. Our round sizes are the starting point:
- 6 inch — serves 4–8
- 8 inch — serves 12–24
- 10 inch — serves 30–50
For bigger receptions, slab cakes stretch further: a quarter slab serves 20–30+, a half slab 40–60+ and a full slab 80–100+. Most wedding cakes we make are tiered combinations — a 6 inch top tier over a 10 inch base, for instance, gives you roughly 34 to 58 serves depending on how generously it's cut.
If the cake is the plated dessert, plan one serve per guest; if it's cut later in the evening and served with coffee, you can be a little more relaxed. You'll find the full serves table — hearts, slabs, letters, numbers and cupcakes — on our pricing page.
Wedding cake styles trending in 2026
This year is all about texture and romance. Textured buttercream — palette-knife strokes, rustic swirls, stucco-style finishes — continues to dominate, because it photographs beautifully and holds up well through a Queensland afternoon.
Vintage-inspired heart-shaped cakes are back in a big way, often stacked two or three high with piped frills, and bows are everywhere: hand-piped, moulded, or trailing in ribbon. You can see all three trends across the recent wedding work in our gallery.
Choosing your flavours
We bake nine signature flavours: Classic Vanilla layered with house-made raspberry compote, Rich Chocolate, Red Velvet, Lemon Raspberry, Strawberry Champagne, Passionfruit Mango, Salted Caramel, Tiramisu and Matcha Green Tea. Vegan and gluten-free versions are available for most of the range, so guests with dietary requirements don't miss out.
Torn between Salted Caramel and Tiramisu? That's exactly what the tasting is for. Browse the full range on our flavours page first, so you know what to ask for when you come in.
Delivery and setup, Brisbane & Ipswich
We deliver across Brisbane and Ipswich, and delivery is free within 15 km of our Indooroopilly kitchen — beyond that, a delivery fee applies based on distance.
For tiered and delicate cakes we always recommend delivery: a stacked wedding cake is not something you want to move yourself in 30-degree heat. Our wedding cake service includes delivery and setup at your venue, so the cake is assembled, levelled and photo-ready before your first guest walks in.
What wedding cakes cost
Every cake is priced in one of three tiers — Standard, Premium and Masterpiece — based on the level of detail in the design. Round sizes start from $110 for a 6 inch Standard, and the full table for every size, shape and tier is on our pricing page.
A 50% deposit secures your date, with the balance due one week before delivery. From there we confirm every detail with you — flavours, design, timing — so there are no surprises on the day.
Ready to get started? Send an order request with your date, venue and guest count, and we'll reach out within 24 hours to confirm.
